Northumberland River and coast ECO challenge - Using the River Coquet and Northumberland Coast beaches.Start with a canoe down a beautiful stretch of the River Coquet heading down towards the coastal town of Amble (removing plastic and other litter could start on the river). The canoe trip will be either a 8km or 14km stretch depending on water levels and weather conditions on the day. Arrive at Amble (at the mouth of the River Coquet) early evening to use facilities. Here there is the option to get a fish and chip supper. Alternatively a supper can be cooked over a camp fire once on the beach. Then canoe to the north side of the Coquet to set up a beach bivi/wild camp to include a camp fire (and food if not doing fish and chips) and possibly a bracing dip in the North Sea. The next morning would be the opportunity to walk North along Warkworth Beach, a stunning stretch of sandy coastline and to “give something back by taking something away” collecting litter and in particular plastics to remove them from the North Sea ecosystem. The short paddle back across to Amble would complete the weekend.
This ECO friendly event is challenging and also helps corporate groups and teams make a difference.
